The forestry department around my former home regularly conducted controlled burns in the woods to reduce the likelihood of serious wildfires and to control the amount of weed growth.
These fires leave the existing hardwood trees with black, skeletal looking branches that I have used extensively in my projects. Black lines drawn with burned wood.
